STORING YOUR ITEMS
• Fill boxes to their maximum capacity to avoid collapsing.
• Pack heavy items in small boxes for easy lifting.
• Call your auto or home insurance co. to obtain renter’s insurance on stored items.
• Label all boxes! Store boxes with labels showing for easy access.
• Put items you anticipate needing the most into storage last so that they are in front.
• Use fabric covers to cover furniture and other items (plastic can cause moisture to condense under it).
• Use ziplock bags to store screws & bolts and tape them to the items that they belong to.
• Do not store items that may break if frozen.
• Do not store food items since rodents could get into them.
• Put a few drops of oil on items that might rust. Avoid putting oiled items in contact with other items.
• Do not store combustibles, perishables, flammables, explosives or elicit materials.
• Put boxes & furniture on pallets to allow for better ventilation.
• Pack books flat to avoid damaging spines.
• Drain gasoline from small engines including lawn mowers and snow blowers.
• Remove table legs to conserve storage space.
• Do not store irreplaceable photos.
• Store heavy items on bottom and lighter items on top.
• Buy a good lock and securely latch your door when you leave.
